Environment Day Finland

On 22nd May the whole school Kytöpuisto took part in cleaning up the neighbourhood. The schoolyard and surroundings were divided in sectors and all 380 kids got a rubbishplastic and gloves and started cleaning. Our class 3B was cleaning the near-by forest and found too many rubbish.

Earlier we had taken part in virtual-math-class organised by Intel and European Schoolnet. That was a lot of fun, playing virtual football and solving mathematical problems.

Hiking at the mountain path from Argos to Saint Andreas

We have started early in the morning. Our guides were Eleni and Evangelia Koukouvas, mothers of two pupils from our school.
We have followed the same path from Argos to Pythari, but when we got out of the canyon we have changed route and we followed the path on the west side.

The feeling it was wonderfull. It was the first time for me and my pupils that we followed this path. The smell of oregano, salvia and thrumbi was around us and ofcourse the beautiful blue of the Aegean Sea under the path was with us all the way..

Glorius mountains and rocks above us, blue under us. The small island of Nera at the background.

Kapari has found the way to live on the rock.

The small island opposite Saint Andreas beach. We are getting closer...
                                                                         Oregano!!!
                                                                           Salvia!!!

After two hours and fifty minutes we reached the beach and ofcourse there was a great reward...
                                                                       Swimming ...
Evangelia and Eleni getting some rest...
On the way back to the Monastery of Saint Cathrin we stopped for a visit at the Cave of God Zews. We talked about the creation of stalaktites and stalagmites.
In groups we visited the cave and the pupils were very excited.
We saw the creation of the miracles that nature can offer us.
Finally we reached the road that it leaded us back to Argos.
